Lists safety measures to stay well during Durga Puja celebration

Dipped in the hues of cheerfulness, fervor and revelry, Durga Puja is a festival that reveres goddess Durga and celebrates the victory of good over evil. It is celebrated with great devotion, particularly in Bengal, Assam, Odhisa and parts of Bihar. Every year, Kolkata hosts more than two dozen puja pandals, visited by lakhs of devotees during Durga Puja days. However, big crowd also means mishaps or accidents. AMRI Hospital Group, one of the best multispecialty hospitals in Kolkata, lists some of the best safety measures to avoid getting hurt:

  • Avoid burns and bruises in the Dhunuchi dance.
  • Mind the diyas around your Pandal.
  • Mind the traffic laws to avoid road accidents and stampedes during pandal hopping.
  • Safely immerse the idols of Goddess Durga at congregations and ghats.
  • Since Durga Puja comes after monsoon, diseases like the malaria and dengue spread during this season. Thus, it becomes important to ensure precautions against such diseases.
  • Use sunscreen, umbrella or a sun glass if you visit pandals during the day.
  • The chances of getting cough and cold increase at night during this season. People should ensure safety measures if they are visiting pandals at night.
  • Precaution is necessary if you’re eating outside food Drink a salt, sugar and water solution to restore the energy and electrolyte imbalance of the body.
  • While majority of the devotees stay awake at night during the puja, it is important to get adequate amount of sleep the next day.
  • People with respiratory problems should avoid visiting the crowded pandals. They can visit the pandals during the day or any time when they are less crowded.
  • Health experts at AMRI Hospital recommends heart patients should visit pandals from safe distance because loudspeakers blaring high decibel noises can cause distress.

AMRI Hospital Group wishes one and all a very Happy Durga Puja. May Goddess Durga bless you with lots of prosperity, happiness, wealth and good fortune.
