Twitter is joining hands with Walmart to launch an online shopping portal via livestreams. The newest feature will enable consumers to buy material which is up for grabs directly from businesses on Twitter, while enjoying a live broadcast simultaneously. The company will conduct its first livestream of shopping on November 28. The livestream will be hosted by the renowned R&B artist Jason Derulo. The live shopping will have apparel, electronics, home goods, seasonal décor, special guests whose names are not revealed yet. The microblogging platform has begun testing Twitter Shopping Manager.
On November 22, Twitter announced the latest live shopping experience through a blog post. Walmart shall begin Cyber Week including the world’s first shopping livestream on Twitter on November 28. The event called ‘Cyber deals Sunday’ will commence at 7pm ET (5:30 am IST). As the event will proceed, tweeple can witness the live broadcast, shop products via Walmart (on iOS and Desktop). Derulo will be the host of the 30-minute variety live broadcast.
People can browse through Shoppable Banner and the Shop Tab as they watch the live shopping stream on Twitter. They can witness the livestream over the merchant’s website inside an in-app browser with no requirement of pausing the show as they make purchases.
Twitter quipped about its feature, “Livestreaming on Twitter gives businesses the power to engage with their most influential fans and adding the ability to shop into this experience is a natural extension to attracting and engaging with receptive audiences.”
Twitter also began testing a Twitter Shopping Manager to help with product catalogue management and merchant onboarding. The company said that this feature gives merchants a platform to manage their business shoppable profiles on Twitter. The microblogging site is planning to launch new products to help make shopping on Twitter an entirely new experience. The social media platform’s entry into livestream shopping implements a feature known as ‘Shop Module’. Shop Module is basically a space where businesses get the opportunity to highlight their products. Tweeple can browse through similar profiles with the Shop Module feature enabled and navigate around the carousel of products.
