O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU), has recently dedicated a center for conducting corporate responsibility, and sustainability activities. Established in JGU, Sonipat, Haryana, the center aims to impart knowledge services to educational institutes, industries and other corporate players.
A three-day long program called “Northern Conclave for Building CSR relationships”, will be supported by the JGU-Centre for Excellence in Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability (JGU-CECRAS), in association with Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS).
JGU Vice Chancellor C Raj Kumar, emphasized on commitment, and contribution of the corporate sector, towards collaborative development of industry, and the community. Forming the backbone of the CSR model in India, Kumar mentioned the importance of building a positive persona and image, including brand building, and maintaining corporate social responsibility.
“We need to reimagine the CSR framework for higher education. The impetus should be to translate corporate mission to societal mission. Corporations need to invest in long term social transformation,” Kumar said. He also emphasized the critical role research plays with the need to increase it, and innovate universities for future.
A conference was held at the University premises, focusing on the importance of building more socially and environmentally responsible citizens and corporations. Gyaneshwar Singh, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, inaugurated the conference, gathering corporations, non-profit organizations, government entities and higher education institutions.
Jindal Global University underlines collateral economic and environment development. Guided by the principles of sustainablilty and environment conversation, the institute seeks to integrate social awareness along with quality education.
