Colgate’s India initiative Keep India Smiling Mission sets a new Guinness World Record

One of the leading companies in oral care in India – Colgate-Palmolive (India) Limited in collaboration with Indian Association of Public Health Dentistry (IAPHD) and world’s first tribal university – Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) conducted an initiative under its Keep India Smiling Mission to set a new Guinness World Record for most number of people brushing their teeth simultaneously at a single venue.

A total number of 26,382 students, tribal children and staff members gathered at the campus of KISS, Bhubaneswar to brush at the same time. The objective of this activity was to highlight the importance of oral care in India. Commenting on the development the Managing Director of the Colgate-Palmolive (India) Limited, Ram Raghavan “I am delighted to be here with you to celebrate and salute the spirit of India.”

He also thanked Minister of Revenue & Disaster Management, Shri Sudam Marndi and Minister of State for Water Resources, Information & Public Relations Shri Raghunandan Das of Odisha for helping the initiative by the company. He also thanked the partners KISS and IAPHD in the effort of attempting for Guinness World Record.

He further added that “At Colgate, we believe that everyone deserves a future they can smile about and we bring that to life with our Keep India Smiling initiative through our sustained efforts to improve and elevate the Oral Health in the country.

Programs such as our flagship Bright Smiles, Bright Futures™, which has touched over 162 million children over the past 40 years is a great example of this.”

Colgate has been running such flagship programmes since 1976. In 2004, another annual Oral Health Month (OHM) was launched across the country to offer free dental check-ups across the country – reaching almost 40 million people till now. Such initiatives amongst the tribal can help them maintain good oral health, which will ensure and healthy and better India tomorrow.
