Renowned astrologer, musician PA Raman passes away

A renowned name in the music and astrology world, Dr P Anantarama Sarma, also known as PA Raman passed away in Vijayawada on January 7, Monday. The reason behind his death was a heart attack.

A diploma holder in music from Vijayawada Music College, he had been an accompanist violin player with many musicians. He was a common name among contemporary musicians.

Raman was also a prominent astrologer and his articles were published in many newspapers and magazines. He was also an ‘Asthana Siddhanati’ for many devasthanams like Kanipakam Varasiddhi Vinayaka Temple, Bhuvaneswari Peetham and Sahasra Lingeswara Swamy Devasthanam. Alongside, he also had his own astrological research institute ‘Bhaskaracharya Astrological Research Institute’.

Survived by wife and son, he was the president of Vijayawada Music Academy and was a part of many cultural organizations. Seeram Subrahmanyam, founder secretary of the Vijayawada Music Academy said that his death was a great loss to the music world.

Dr G Vijaya Saradhi, Dean, Narayana colleges, Andhra Pradesh, who is a childhood friend of Raman, expressed his sorrow and deep condolences for the loss of his friend.

Cultural organizations including Swara Jhuri, Swara Tarangini, Sumadhura Kala Niketan and Andhra Nataka Kala Samithi also expressed their grief for the sudden death of Raman.
