How auto industry is slowly getting back on track

Many industries have been disrupted across the globe due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the auto sector is no exception. A lot of issues have been caused to the supply chain, which is primarily halting the operations even at this stage.

As the lockdown is easing out, almost all the automakers and their suppliers are opening their plants in a phased manner across the world. Several companies are slowly resuming their operations after receiving permission from the respective state governments.

A number of guidelines have been set by the Ministry of Home Affairs. Adhering to the guidelines, the automakers are required to follow measures like social distancing and maintaining higher standards of hygiene. Non compliance with any of the guidelines could lead to strict action against the defaulter.

Renowned automaker, Bajaj Auto has restarted operations in some of its plants, while Mahindra & Mahindra had also resumed work in its Rudrapur tractor factory early in the piece. Surprisingly, Maruti Suzuki went ahead with resumption after a longer delay.

However, different players like Lumax, Setco, Timken, Pricol were quick to resume the work, along with Apollo Tyres.

The things are slowly getting back on track in the auto industry, but it will require a huge effort to match the earlier scenario.

At this juncture, the focus is firmly on taking one step at a time. The experts believe that the situation could improve in the first week of the next month.
