Hinduja Foundation’s big support to afforestation-drive with Maharashtra Government

Since Hinduja Group is renowned for their philanthropic initiatives, this time also the Group through its employees from various companies like Indusind Media, Gulf Oil, Hinduja Hospital and Hinduja Healthcare were seen participating in the tree plantation programme.Establishment of a forest or stand of trees is a new initiative undertaken by Maharashtra Government that received inauguration in hands of Governor C. Vidyasagar Rao that made the start of the Forest Festival (Vanamahotsav) formal.

The footfall from various schools, colleges, corporate, government departments and the defense establishments was marked during this extensive event. The project aims to plant 50 crore saplings in the next three years.While the Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Union Minister for Environment Prakash Javadekar, Shiv Sena President Uddhav Thackeray along with top government officials were present at the occasion, the defense authorities with their families contributed their bit in terms of planting 8000 saplings at Colaba, Kalina and Kandivali.

Hinduja has strived for a month-long drive to plant 100,000 saplings in Thane`s Jawahar sub-district. According to Brig H Chukerbuti (Retd.), Executive Vice President, Hinduja Foundation, “The Hinduja Foundation in a variety of ways is consciously fostering eco-friendly way of life. This year, in concert with the Maharashtra Government’s focus on augmenting green cover, Hinduja Foundation, in an ambitious program has increased its tree planting program. For the initiative, we will be planting close to one lakh saplings in the five villages of Jawhar taluka adopted by us.”

Hinduja Foundation has been sincerely contributing towards social welfare programmes as even last year, more than 16,000 seeds were planted by them in the district in lieu of their CSR agility. The dedication of Hindujas towards a better tomorrow is clearly exhibited with their commitment to support the Maharashtra Government for the first time in their 2 crore plantation venture.
