Kapil Mishra alleges Arvind Kejriwal to be corrupt, faints right after press meet

Amidst a ‘mega expose’ and high voltage political drama, former AAP minister Kapil Mishra on Sunday accused party chief and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal of corruption. Mishra accused the Delhi Chief Minister of funnelling crores of unaccounted money into the party’s funds through shell companies and donors.

Addressing a press conference in Delhi, Kapil Mishra alleged that while AAP in its declaration to the EC had showed an income of around Rs 9 crore, it actually had over Rs 45 crore in its bank account during the financial year 2013-2014.

“All this happened with the knowledge of Arvind Kejriwal as these shell companies deposited money in AAP’s bank account on the same day and time in January 2014,” Kapil Mishra said.

The former AAP minister also claimed that the shell companies were formed by people close to Arvind Kejriwal to channel black money into AAP’s accounts and hawala transactions. The AAP-led government awarded those companies with contracts and bestowed favors on people involved.

Reporters and cops deployed in multiple rings were present at Mishra’s Civil Lines residence. A mood of anticipation was created by the bundles of documents on the table and a large projector.

“Arvind Kejriwal was very angry during demonetisation because money laundering through party and shell companies was at stake,” he further claimed. The sacked minister also alleged that several of these fake companies had accounts in the Krishna Nagar branch of Axis Bank which had been raided. During the press conference which lasted for over 50 minutes, he was aided by a friend, Neil, who claimed to be a former AAP member.

Kapil Mishra has been attacking the Delhi chief minister and his former cabinet colleagues every day, since he was sacked last week for what his party called ‘poor performance’.

After seeking Arvind Kejriwal’s resignation by evening “if he had any grace left”, the former minister, who has been on a hunger strike since Wednesday, fell unconscious towards the end of the press conference, and was immediately taken to the RML hospital .

“He (Mishra) was brought to the recovery room five minutes after he was admitted to the emergency department. His condition is stable. We are monitoring him,” informed a doctor at Delhi’s Ram Manohar Lohia hospital.
