Mukesh Ambani Faces Death Threat; Ransom Demand Reaches Rs 400 Crore

Mukesh Ambani, the Chairman of Reliance Industries, is currently at the centre of a harrowing situation, as he has received a third death threat email demanding a staggering sum of Rs 400 crore ($54 million). This incident marks the latest in a series of threats directed at India’s wealthiest man.

Unrelenting Threats

In a concerning turn of events, Mukesh Ambani received the third threatening email on Monday, three days after the initial threat. The email, which demanded a ransom of Rs 400 crore, follows two prior threats where the assailant had already escalated the demand from Rs 20 crore to Rs 200 crore.

The sender, who remains unidentified, is undeterred by law enforcement and seems to be taunting the authorities. The email stated, “Now we have increased our demand to 400 crore rupees. If the police can’t track me, they can’t arrest me.”

Police Investigation

In response to these grave threats, Mumbai police are leaving no stone unturned in their quest to trace the sender. The challenge, however, lies in the potential use of a Virtual Private Network (VPN) to conceal the sender’s true location. The police have reached out to a VPN company in Belgium through Interpol to obtain the IP address of the email sender.

A VPN, which creates an encrypted connection to a network, was used by the sender to mislead the authorities. While the initial tracing led to Belgium, the sender may be situated in a different country, utilizing the VPN to stay hidden.

Increased Security Measures

Amid these alarming developments, security measures at Mukesh Ambani’s residence in south Mumbai have been heightened. The Mumbai Police are taking these threats seriously and are working closely with various units to apprehend the sender.

A History of Threats

This is not the first time Mukesh Ambani and his family have faced threats. In 2022, an unidentified individual called Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital threatened to blow up the facility in south Mumbai. In another incident in August 2022, a jeweller was arrested for threatening to kill Ambani and his family members.

One of the most prominent incidents occurred in February 2021 when an SUV laden with explosives was discovered near Ambani’s south Mumbai residence, ‘Antilia,’ prompting a major security scare.

Mukesh Ambani, a prominent figure in India’s business landscape, continues to be targeted by extortion threats. While law enforcement agencies are working diligently to trace the sender of these threatening emails, the unrelenting nature of the assailant’s demands is a cause for concern. Ambani’s ongoing battle with these threats is a stark reminder of the security challenges faced by high-profile individuals and businesses in the country. The story is far from over, and the world watches with bated breath as the police continue their pursuit of the sender.
