Last year on August 18, Supreme Court declared Rummy, as a game of skills than misunderstood form of gambling. The verdict came in favor of game service providers along with players as the court didn’t see any valid reason to interfere with the skilled game which is based on legal principles. In March 2012, Madras High Court declared Indian Rummy as gambling, if stakes are involved. This decision was challenged by Chennai-based city club, Mahalakshmi Cultural Association.
