Sunil Chhetri is the new Brand Ambassador of PUMA: Signs a three-year deal

Germany-based global sportswear brand PUMA announced that it has signed a three year deal with Indian Football captain, Sunil Chhetri, as brand ambassador. The deal was also signed with current Indian Super League champion Bengaluru FC, captained by the Indian.

“I am excited to join the Puma family. Over the years, I have closely witnessed and experienced the brand’s football heritage. Now signing with them as a Puma player is a very natural progression for me,” said the six-time AIFF player of the year.

Sunil Chhetri ranks second in the list of footballers with most number of goals at international level among still active players, only behind Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese star has scored 99 goals in 164 matches while Chhetri has 72 goals in 115 internationals.

India’s most capped player, who is the 2011 Arjuna Awardee, joins the likes of Antoine Griezmann and Luis Suarez who are associated with the globally-celebrated brand which has been active in Indian football for a long time now. In addition to Chhetri, the German brand has associated with some of the top Indian athletes including Cricket captain Virat Kohli and boxing star MC Mary Kom.

He said, “Sunil is a living legend and an inspiration for the youth, he has made a huge impact to grow the sport and its following in India. His passion is very much in line with Puma’s vision. Together, we are invested in growing the culture of football, inspiring and achieving new levels in the game.”
