Aerobotics, the Data Analytics Company, which uses aerial imagery for farmers, recently raised $2 million from Nedbank Group, US Ag-Tech Venture Capital Fund AgFunder, US-based Angel List, and South African-based 4Di Capital. The data analytics and Agri tech start-up uses aerial imagery and machine learning algorithms to optimize crop performance for farmers around the world through its cloud-based web application ‘Aeroview’. In 2017, they introduced ‘Aeroview Scout’, a mobile application with its presence on Google play store and Apple app store to provide farmers a bird’s eye view of their orchards.
Aerobotics uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) and algorithms to transmute satellite and drone imagery into a beneficial information to help farmers recognize the problem in their orchards. It was co-founded by James Paterson & Benji Meltzer, it has a client base in countries like South Africa, Kenya and Zimbabwe.

In January 2018, Aerobotics was announced as one of 24 startups across the globe chosen to join Google’s Launchpad Accelerator in San Francisco. Aerobotics was one of three African startups chosen.
The startup will use the recent funding to expand its operations globally over the next 12 months with a Florida, USA launch in August 2018.
