‘Dhaka-Yangon air link is securing hope for new business opportunities’- Beximco Group

The direct air connectivity between Dhaka and Yangon promises enormous opportunities for the Bangladeshi traders to explore Myanmar- the unexplored mineral-rich market isolated since the last 50 years. Beximco Group, an international leader in a plethora of merchandise to and from Bangladesh states that Myanmar is like a veiled mine of business opportunities. This place is a land of fortune and businessman’s paradise with the increasing developments in Myanmar. The pharmaceutical companies in Bangladesh have acquired a stronghold on the medicine market of Myanmar as this gateway to South Asia does not have any pharmaceuticals plant of its own.

Syed Shamim Hossain, business development manager of Myanmar Operation of Beximco Group stated that at present, Bangladeshi pharmaceuticals companies are in fourth position in the Myanmar market followed by Thailand and Indian medicines. The Bangladeshi medicines are getting immensely popular among the common people as well as the physicians of Myanmar. Beximco Pharma recently sent some local physicians to Bangladesh to visit their pharmaceuticals plants. The doctors of Myanmar were highly impressed with the high standard medicines produced by Bangladesh. The direct air link between Dhaka and Yangon was well appreciated by the Bangladeshi business leaders in Myanmar acknowledging its role in increasing the growth prospects and expansion of Bangladesh’s business in Myanmar.

Salman F Rahman, MD, Beximco Group highlighted that the air link has reduced the time taken to reach Yangon via Thailand which earlier took one and a half days. Around six weekly flights are being operated at present by Bangladesh Biman and private airliner Novoair, three for each between Dhaka and Yangon.”
