Germany is planning to extend the COVID lockdown till 28th March. However, restrictions will be eased in the next phase of lockdown as the country witnessed a decline in daily COVID-19 infections. German Chancellor Angela Merkel will reportedly discuss a draft document with federal state leaders on 3rd March. The European country will ease some restrictions. The rules are likely to come into place from March 8.
As per the document accessed by global news agency Reuters, a maximum of 5 people from 2 households will now be allowed to meet, excluding children below 14 years. As per current rules, a maximum of 2 people is allowed to meet. The German government will also allow Flower and book stores, garden centres, tattoo, nail parlours and massage salons will be allowed to reopen.
Notably, the daily rise in COVID-19 infections dropped in Germany after the imposition of current lockdown measures. Till now, over 24 lakh people have contracted COVID-19 in Germany. On Monday, the European country reported 3,943 coronavirus infections. More than 70,000 people also succumbed to the deadly virus in Germany.
Meanwhile, the total number of global Covid-19 cases has topped 114.4 million, while the deaths have surged to more than 2.53 million, according to Johns Hopkins University. The current global caseload and death toll stood at 114,417,054 and 2,537,563, respectively.
