After Android, Google Lens application released for iOS

The Google Lens AI smart search app, the feature which was already released for Android users in March this year, is now rolling out fir iOS users, Google announced on Monday. Initially, the feature was available for iOS users through Google Photos app.

The feature lets users tap the Google Lens icon in the search bar instead of having to take a picture and use the Lens feature through the camera roll.

Easing out multiple tasks, Google Lens can recognize texts in images, look up words, save email addresses and call people. It is also designed to help users aid in shopping searches.

Keeping its usage simple, the feature can be accessed by simply tapping the square Lens icon on the search bar, next to the microphone icon. This opens up the application in the iPhone’s camera. Blue dots populate on items the users might want to know more about or explore.

Tapping on an object or text in the image yields search results at the bottom of the screen, on “cards” similar to the ones that appear in other Google apps.

Lens is an app that is helpful for specific and deeper searches. Multiple features that the app provides include adding events to the calendar by tapping on text, finding out where to buy an outfit or furniture online, get trivia about local markets and landmarks, and identify plants and animals, among others.

The feature was initially released in Pixel smartphones, and Google later released it to other platforms as well, now iOS. The application now supports multiple languages including Spanish, French, German, Italian and Korean.
