Whats app informed about “Security Breach” on its platform.

WhatsApp reported that their users might be vulnerable to having malicious spyware installed on phones without their permission and suggested by Facebook’s WhatsApp to update the app after security breach.

Security breach was confirmed by WhatsApp when it informed its lead regulator in EU, data protection commission, of a serious security vulnerability on WhatsApp platform.

WhatsApp is one of the most popular messaging app across globe with 1.5 billion active monthly users. Till now users are trusting WhatsApp for its end-to-end encryption, but this security breach has raises questions about its security.

“WhatsApp encourages people to upgrade to the latest version of our app, as well as keep their mobile operating system up to date, to protect against potential targeted exploits designed to compromise information stored on mobile devices,” a spokesman said.

“We are constantly working alongside industry partners to provide the latest security enhancements to help protect our users,” he said. WhatsApp did not elaborate further.
