Every business, whether huge or small, has a responsibility to give back to the community. Sahara India Pariwar, India’s leading business conglomerate, validates the belief. Headed by the visionary businessman Subrata Roy, Sahara has been actively fulfilling its Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR), since more than a decade. ‘Samuhik Vivah Samaroh organised by the Sahara India Pariwar every year at Sahara Shaher, Lucknow is the proof.

The concept of Samuhik Vivah propped from Subrata Roy Sahara’s strong desire to uplift the local community and society at large. As a result, Saharasri ushered the noble event ─ Samuhik Vivah Samaroh ─ in the year 2004.

It is the Samaroh’s 12th consecutive year. This year too, the grand ceremony witnessed 101 weddings solemnised at a common venue. Out of the 101 couples─ who were selected by Sahara for the Samaroh after a thorough verification process ─ 93 were Hindus, 6 were Muslims, 1 was Sikh, and 1 Christian.

It is worth mentioning here that Sahara bears the expenses of all the wedding arrangements, right from decoration, clothing, food, lodging of guests,welcoming the Baarat, to Kanyadaan. Each newly-wedded couple is showered with presents worth Rs 1 lakh by the Sahara India Pariwar. These gifts include household items that can help them lead a comfortable life, such as a refrigerator, an almirah, a coloured television, a double bed, a dressing table, jewellery, sarees for the bride, suits for the groom, and wrist watches for the couple.

It is, indeed praiseworthy on the part of Sahara India Pariwar to have helped 1,212 couples from the weaker sections till date, to tie the knot in beautiful ambience without even spending a penny.

The auspicious occasion this year was graced by a number of eminent personalities who extended their greetings and good wishes to the newly-wedded couples. Ashutosh Tandon, Uttar Pradesh Minister of Technological and Medical Education, O P Srivastava, Deputy Managing Worker, Sahara India Pariwar, and Abhijit Sarkar, Head – Corporate Communications, Corporate Relations, Sports and Guardian – Media, Sahara India Pariwar were some notable names amongst the distinguished invitees at the Sahara India Pariwar Samuhik Vivah Samaroh 2017’.

Abhijit Sarkar said about the company’s endeavours, “Sahara India Pariwar has always kept corporate responsibility and social stewardship as an integral part of the organization and made determined efforts in the development of society and the nation. The annual ‘SamuhikVivahSamaroh’ is one such step in the same direction.”
