Alliance University conducted a one day Workshop on ‘NPTEL Resources Awareness’ in association with NPTEL (National Programme on Technology Enhanced learning) IIT Madras,NPTEL Resources Awareness Workshop at Alliance University.

In the Introductory session,

Dr. Mangala Sundar K informed students about how the NPTEL project was started, Subjects and courses, statistics. He also focused on the objectives of NPTEL and mentioned that the basic aim of NPTEL workshops in India is to devise and guide reforms that will transform India into a strong and vibrant knowledge economy. Moreover he added, that course content topics of  NPTEL are useful for teacher training and through them improve the quality of students. In addition, the course materials (both web and video) are freely accessible by everyone independent of their geographic location.

It is one of the major goals of the project to bring in all the best teachers in the country under the umbrella of NPTEL and record their lectures/seek their collaboration with IITs/IISc and make their courses available for the community under free and open sources agreement.

After lunch session,

Ms.Deepa, Project Officer, NPTEL took over the session on how to set up local chapter of NPTEL, benefits and certification.
The valedictory function was graced by Prof.K.V.S.M Krishna who advised the participants to take next step and promote awareness of NPTEL resources in their respective Institutes.

There was an overwhelming response of participants, almost all the prominent colleges of south India participated for  the session.
