India administers over 74 crore doses of Covid-19 vaccines till date

Vaccination is the medicine to boost economy, says FM Nirmala Sitharaman.

India witnessed a slight dip in daily Covid-19 cases on Saturday and its cumulative vaccination coverage crossed 73.73 crore,as Prime Minister Narendra Modi conducted a high-level meeting on the Covid-related situation in India ahead of the festival season.

Kerala, has the highest case load of Covid-19. However, it has started witnessing a drop in new Coronavirus for the past few days.

The number of active cases declined by 6,595 in a span of 24 hours to stand at 3,84,921, and now accounts for 1.16 per cent of India’s total infections, the health ministry said. India recounted 28,591 new coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, taking its overall Covid-19 tally to 3,32,36,921, as per data from the Union Health Ministry on Sunday. With 338 fatalities, India’s Covid-19 death toll also climbed to 4,42,655.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has been told by the Center that the health ministry and the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) have come out with guidelines. These guidelines issue an “official document” for Covid-related deaths, Covid-19 cases would be considered which have been diagnosed through RT-PCR test, rapid-antigen test, molecular test or clinically determined through investigations at a hospital or by a treating physician at an in-patient facility.

The centre is expecting Zydus Cadila’s needle-free coronavirus vaccine ZyCoV-D to be available in early October. It will be the first vaccine in India which would be administered in the age group of 12-18 years. The CoWIN portal has added a new feature called ‘Know Your Customer/Client’s Vaccination Status (KYC-VS) where individuals can now check the vaccination status of their employees, employers, clients, or service providers.
